Sumario:Introduction Remarking the importance textbooks play in the teaching learning process, the issue of concern of this paper is to present a sample of the reading section of the English textbook, designed for high school students of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, México. The author, as one of the developers of this material seeks to present reading in the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) course. Different theoretical views of reading are presented and also approaches in which students can improve reading. The reading section of this textbook, named Time to Read!, is examined through one of its reading passages and tasks.
