Sumario:Thedevelopmentofnewnanomaterialstopromotewoundhealingisrising, becauseoftheirtopicaladministrationandeasyfunctionalizationwithmoleculesthatcanimproveandacceleratethe processofhealing.Ananocompositeofgoldnanoparticles(AuNPs)functionalizedwithcalreticulinwassynthetizedandevaluated.Theabilityofthenanocompositetopromoteproliferationandmigrationwasdeterminedinvitro,andinvivowoundhealingwasevaluatedusingamicemodelofdiabetesestablishedwithstreptozotocin(STZ).Invitro,thenanocompositenotaffectthecellviabilityandtheexpressionofproliferatingcellnuclearantigen(PCNA).Moreover,thenanocompositepromotestheclonogenicityof keratinocytes,endothelialcells,andfibroblasts,andacceleratesfibroblastmigration.Invivo,micetreatedwiththenanocompositepresentedsignificantlyfasterwoundhealing. Thehistologicalevaluationshowed re-epithelization and the formation of granular tissue, as well as an increase of collagen deposition. Therefore, theseresultsconfirmtheutilityofAuNPs–calreticulinnanocompositesaspotentialtreatment forwoundhealingofdiabeticulcers
