Sumario:Summary This study examines architecture students' perceptions of text-to-image AI tools in architectural design, focusing on their impact on creativity, efficiency, and the design process. Conducted as part of the "Research Methods in Design" course for third-year architecture students, the research explores how AI-assisted tools can complement traditional design methodologies, particularly in user-centered projects. Students used AI technologies such as Midjourney, DALL-E, Canva, and ChatGPT to create personas, mood boards, and client experience maps, combining image and text generation capabilities to support various stages of the design process. Two surveys were conducted during the course to assess students' familiarity with AI, their initial skepticism, and the perceptions that evolved after interacting with these tools. The results indicate that students found AI tools useful for generating diverse design ideas, accelerating visualization, and improving ideation. Despite initial reservations, students acknowledged AI's potential to streamline the design process, though challenges related to technical accuracy and interpreting prompts were also noted. While this study addresses the advantages and disadvantages of using AI in design education, it also proposes ways to better integrate these tools into user-centered approaches. The findings highlight AI's role in promoting forward-thinking design education, preparing students for the evolving demands of the architectural field. Keywords: AI in design education; Text-to-image tools; User-centered design
