    “…En este trabajo se determinaron las medidas de tendencia central de las celdas del Continuo de Elevaciones Mexicano 3.0 desarrollado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía, cuya característica principal es la resolución de 15 metros. El área estudiada comprende todo el territorio nacional: 1) se trabajó sobre un universo superior a los 9 mil millones de celdas; 2) los 225 m2 que cubre cada celda es la mayor resolución que se ha logrado obtener para la escala nacional; 3) de estas, 58 % cae dentro de un promedio altitudinal de los 1 040 metros sobre el nivel del mar (m. s. n. m.), mientras que el rango 0-100 m. s. n. m. corresponde a la moda, pues dicho intervalo se repite en 18 % de las celdas, en tanto que la mediana ocupa el valor de 1 045; 4) se determinó con un criterio analógico que la pequeña ciudad de Zumpango del Río, Guerrero, se sitúa sobre el promedio altitudinal, en tanto que, territorialmente hablando, la demarcación municipal de Axochiapan, Puebla, presenta el promedio altitudinal de la nación; y 5) respecto a la moda, las localidades de Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, y Acayucan, Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, son una buena representación de dicha tendencia e Ixtlán del Río, Nayarit, con sus 1 044 m. s. n. m., representaría la mediana.…”
