“…La hipertensión intracraneal es una variable que puede modificar el flujo sanguíneo cerebral y comprometer la irrigación, afectando la entrega de oxígeno y nutrientes al cerebro, hay métodos directos de medir la presión intracraneal, sin embargo son costosos, invasivos y riesgosos, además de que algunos pacientes no se encuentran en condiciones de someterse a este procedimiento, sin embargo en pacientes neurocríticos sería una variable importante de monitorizar como cualquier otro signo vital; para esto existen métodos no invasivos para estimar presión intracraneal como lo es la vaina del nervio óptico, que está recubierta por una prolongación de menínges por lo cual puede estimar una presión intracraneal aumentada; otro método indirecto son índices de flujo de arteria oftálmica, los cuales hablan de la perfusión cerebral que podría estar comprometida al existir hipertensión intracraneal. …”
