“…El Covid-19, enfermedad viral causada por el SARS-CoV 2 ha alcanzado una distribución global y a partir de marzo del 2020 ha sido declarada pandemia por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) con cerca de 3 millones de casos y 200,000 muertes.(1) Los primeros reportes, derivados de la experiencia en Wuhan, China, sugieren que el cuadro causado por este nuevo coronavirus es leve en hasta un 81% de los pacientes, sin embargo, cerca de 19% llegan a tener un cuadro severo que requiere manejo intrahospitalario, y cerca de 6% manejo en la unidad de cuidados intensivos.(2) En la mayoría de los casos, COVID-19 se manifiesta con síntomas constitucionales y respiratorios, sin embargo, a medida que se han acumulado los casos a nivel global, se han descrito otras presentaciones que van desde los cuadros neurológicos (3) como Guillain-Barré (4) y eventos vasculares cerebrales en pacientes jóvenes,(5) manifestaciones gastrointestinales,(6) condiciones derivadas del estado pro-trombótico (7) y manifestaciones cardiovasculares.(8) Se incluyeron un total de 4 pacientes, todos ellos hombres, el 100% con datos de síndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda (SDRA). …”
