    “…In the present study, antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytoprotective properties were evaluated in plants collected in municipality of Santiago, Nuevo León, Mexico; obtaining the leaf, stem and root (if any) ethanol extracts of A. xalapensis, M. malacophylla and T. cubense against strains of nosocomial importance such as S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and S. maltophilia; the greatest antimicrobial activity against S. aureus were the A. xalapensis stem and leaf extracts, MBC of 2.6 ± 0.3 mg/mL and 2.9 ± 0.5 mg/mL respectively, and the highest antioxidant activity by the methods of DPPH (1,112.1 ± 70.6 µmol ET/g 1,206.6 ± 68.6 µmol ET/g respectively) and ABTS•+ (1,864.0 ± 135.6 µmol ET/g 1750.7 ± 110.1 µmol ET/g respectively). …”
