“…Al ser el factor ovárico la causa más común de infertilidad de origen femenino, hoy en día el tratamiento más utilizado para este tipo de pacientes son las técnicas de baja complejidad, que consten en otorgar medicamentos de forma controlada para inducir el crecimiento folicular y de esta manera la ovulación, realizando un seguimiento ecográfico de forma estrecha hasta alcanzar un tamaño folicular óptimo donde se otorga un estímulo bioquímico de ovulación, y se realiza la aplicación intrauterina de semen para lograr el embarazo. Ya se ha establecido previamente que el diámetro folicular guarda una relación estrecha con el grado de maduración ovocitaria, esto se ha hecho más evidente con los nuevos tratamientos de reproducción asistida como la inseminación artificial intrauterina y la fertilización in vitro, en la que se ha observado que la probabilidad de obtener un ovocito maduro aumenta conforme aumenta el diámetro folicular, tomando como punte de corte 17-23 mm, sin embargo aún no se ha establecido un punto de corte óptimo para el tratamiento a pacientes que se someten a técnicas de baja complejidad, como la inseminación intrauterina en ciclos con estimulación ovárica controlada. …”
