“…The main component of chloroplast membranes in higher plants and in blue-green algae are galactolipids, of which monogalactosyl-diacylglycerol (MGDG) and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG) are the most predominant specifically. In this investigation, the Langmuir technique was used to prepare monolayers of MGDG, DGDG and MGDG: DGDG 2: 1 (w / w) and when evaluating the ability of melittin lytic peptide to insert and disturb them, the results showed that melittin has the intrinsic property of interacting and disturbing interfacial monolayers that simulate the cell wall of microalgae, therefore, can be proposed to this peptide as an alternative biological pretreatment to those currently reported for the efficient extraction of oils. …”
