Effects of nutritional status and environmental factors on the endocrine regulation of feeding in freshwater fish por Volkoff, Helene

    Publicado 2022
“…These endocrine signals induce [orexigenic, such as orexin, neuropeptide Y (NPY) and ghrelin] or inhibit  [anorexigenic, such as cocaine and amphetamine regulated transcript (CART), leptin, peptide Y (PYY), cholecystokinin (CCK), proopiomelanocortin (POMC)] food intake, and maintain energy homeostasis (1, 2). Levels of energy stores, feeding status (e.g. fasting) and diet composition, as well as environmental conditions (e.g. temperature, pH, oxygen levels) influence feeding and the expression of endocrine appetite regulators.…”

Low-Dose Amphotericin B and Murine Dialyzable Spleen Extracts Protect against SystemicCandidaInfection in Mice por Robledo Ávila, F., Pérez Tapia, M., Limón Flores, A., Pavon, L., Hernández Pando, R., Wong Baeza, I., González González, Gloria María, Tovar, C., Estrada Parra, S., Estrada García, I.

    Publicado 2013
“…Survival, tissue fungal burden, kidney damage, kidney cytokines, and serum levels of IL-6 and hepcidin were evaluated. Our results showed that the combined treatment of low-dose AmB plus mDSE improved survival and reduced kidney fungal burden and histopathology; these effects correlated with increased kidney concentration of IFN-γ and TGF-β1, decreased levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-10, as well as high levels of systemic IL-6 and hepcidin. …”

The burden of blood-pressure-related cardiovascular mortality in Mexico por Cortés Hernández, Dora Elia, Lundelin, Krista J., Picazzo Palencia, Esteban, Cruz, Juan J. de la, Sánchez, José J., Banegas, José R.

    Publicado 2014
“…This study shows that in Mexico, a country at an advanced stage in the epidemiologic transition, with the national burden of disease dominated by noncommunicable diseases, elevated blood pressure is a major clinical and public health problem. 31.7% of the Mexican individuals aged 50 and over had systolic hypertension, and 47.3% were at systolic prehypertensive levels. Also, approximately half of all cardiovascular deaths that occurred annually in the population of Mexico aged ≥50 years are attributable to above optimal levels of systolic blood pressure. …”
