A través del análisis de esta relación podremos ver la forma en la que este periodo fue importante para que un contingente de combatientes yucatecos se adaptara a combatir entre la vegetación del bosque tropical y aprendiera a utilizar los recursos que podían obtener de él para conseguir sus fines militares. El bosque tropical, presente tanto en el oriente como en el occidente de la Península, propició que los orientales desarrollaran un tipo de combatir disperso entre la vegetación, lo que los distinguió de gran parte de las tropas yucatecas. |

The sources used to write this article are mostly war reports and interrogations of Mexican officers prosecuted for actions carried out during the campaign. Through the analysis of this relationship we will be able to see the way in which this period was important for a contingent of Yucatecan combatants to adapt to fighting among the vegetation of the tropical forest and learn to use the resources they could obtain from it to achieve their military goals. The tropical forest, present in both the east and west of the Peninsula, allowed the orientales to develop a type of combat dispersed among the vegetation, which distinguished them from a large part of the Yucatecan troops.
