Sumario: | Recent downscaling and improvements of tube feeding techniques have allowed more detailedstudies on the digestive and absorptive efficiency of larval fish, including the transfer kineticsof selected nutrients from the lumen of the digestive tract into the tissues of the body. Freelydissolved amino acids seem to be absorbed rapidly and with a high efficiency. There has alsobeen some progress towards understanding how the digestive process is controlled in marinefish larvae. The peptide hormone cholecystokinin (CCK) has been targeted since it is believedto play an important role in controlling digestive function in vertebrates. |
